Chemical kinetics and environmental fate: a quantitative and efficient method for solving the Akzo Nobel problem

This paper presents an in-depth quantitative approach for solving two versions of the chemical Akzo nobel problem. We developed a two–step, fifth–order, self–starting block method for its solution using different literature based initial conditions. We made comparisons with other relevant works in the literature albeit with due diligence ensuring the same equations and initial conditions. Our method outperformed some recent works making it suitable for the numerical solution of other stiff nonlinear ODEs.
