Povzetek

A general rate model of liquid chromatography is used to simulate isothermal operating conditions considering the bi-Langmuir isotherm in a cylindrical column. Radial dispersion inside the column are ignored, hence making it a one-dimensional flow problem. The governing equation is composed of a system of partial differential equations together with the nonlinear expression
of isotherm and completed with the Danckwerts boundary conditions. A high resolution finite volume scheme of Koren is used to obtain approximate solutions of the governing equation. The scheme is second to third order accurate and easily implemented. Several case studies of single and multi-components are carried out to study the behaviors of key model parameters. The results
show that the suggested finite volume scheme avoids numerical oscillations and provides optimum predictions for the obtained solutions.
