With the rapid growth of Mathematical Biology in Nigeria, it is imperative that a Society of academics in this very broad field be created. This will help to cater for the peculiar academic needs of individuals who are in the field and have cause to collaborate with other scientists in allied fields and those in the biological fields. The Society will be known as the Nigerian Society for Mathematical Biology (NSMB).
The aim of the NSMB is to bring together applied mathematicians, statisticians, operations researchers, physicists, engineers, computer scientists and specialists in the fields of agriculture, public health, epidemiology, pharmacy, life sciences and other bio-medical fields at the crossroad of theoretical, experimental and field biology with the mathematical sciences, in order to provide solutions to problems that cut across these fields through exchange of ideas and collaborations.
